Allahabad HC stays demolition of a building in Dalmandi area of Varanasi

In a major relief to a property owner in the Dalmandi area of Varanasi, the Allahabad High Court has stayed the proposed demolition of a building under the Dalmandi Road Widening Scheme.

A division bench comprising Justice Salil Kumar Rai and Justice Swarupama Chaturvedi ordered that the status quo of the property in question be maintained.

The court clarified that no demolition action will be taken against the disputed building until the next hearing.

The interim order was issued during the hearing of a petition filed by Alimunnisha. The petition challenges a notice issued on May 26, 2026, by the Zonal Officer/Assistant Municipal Commissioner of the Varanasi Municipal Corporation under Section 331 of the Uttar Pradesh Municipal Corporation Act, 1959.
